A London resident for
10 years Jasmine was born in Madras and is a graduate in economics
and acting. Being a trained martial artist (Kalarippayattu)
and dancer (Bharthanatyam and Mohiniyattam) from childhood
she has toured and performed in most of the productions of
Chandralekha (India) and Shobana Jeyasingh (UK). She has also
worked with
a range of choreographers including Wayne McGregor (UK), Richard
Alston (UK), Laurie Booth (UK), Roger Sinha (Canada) and Mavin
Khoo (UK). Jasmine has also worked on Basement Jaxx and Emergency
Exit Arts productions. In summer 2000 Jasmine both choreographed
for and performed in the award winning Akademi production, Coming
of Age, directed by Keith Khan. Her work in TV and Film
includes Check by Amarjeeth Singh and BBC production
Away Game. Chathi, her new physical theatre
choreography, is based on the ballad of warriors of 16th century
Southern India and has toured in the UK and Europe. Spare
Rib is her current work in progress. Her work includes
arts led education projects for schools, universities and
community
